- Ice storm in Atlanta chills traffic, shuts down the airport, and clears the streets. Except for Leah (pic above) - she's been cleared to drive in the snow!
- And I really want my fellow Atliens to just stay home. Really.
- but my stubborn Buffalonian a$$ ventured out regardless...
- To a baby shower & a slumber party. Ah, to be young & fertile again.
- And despite the weather, I FOUND MY HOUSE!
'nuff said- Needless to say, my realtor is impressed not only by my winter driving ability, but my dogged resolve to get that house TO-friggin-DAY.
- OK, so I did have to promise her hubby to not kill her in the process. She was perfectly safe with me - truly.
- And she got the builder to give me a lil extra off the top, for coming out in the nasty weather. How much do I LOVE my realtor now?!!!

- I just cannot wipe the shyt-eating grin off my face.
I need colors y'all. And furniture. And decorating ideas. We've got 6 months to build, and I know y'all are going to help me get this right, right??!!!

Dang. I REALLY have to move to the ATL now! How much do houses like that go for? (dont need to give your biz...just a ballpark figure. I'm from Toronto and looking to relocate)
It's ballpark 2000 - 2600 sq ft (depending on the builder) and base price w/a brick front (that brick IS an upgrade) starting anywhere from $200K - $225K depending on the location. Starting is the word though - add in hardwood floors, marble vanities, granite countertops, carpet upgrades and that house can go easily for $250K-300K. I know that's WAY less than TO, but it's a buyer's market right now in greater Atlanta (incl. the 'burbs) - too much after X-mas inventory.
As strong as our dollar is... it's not way less. I would say it's about the same. Just did a conversion on xe.com : 250K US = 309K Canadian. Not so bad, but not less LOL
My parents are moving (and I guess that includes moi, unless I find a job before May, PRAYING IT'LL BE IN THE U.S., then I won't be going with them) and I think the square footage is a bit less. I always ask them "how much is the new house" and they always tell me...but like a typical chile, I FORGET. Dang!
Anyhoo thanks for the well wishes and YES I want to get to the ATL. Sooner than later. Yes, we will hang out...I'll need some hep adjusting there. I won't be getting a house right off (although it would be nice, ha ha!) but will be looking for apartments/condos, depending on where I will be working. Not gunning for CNN just yet...want to work my way up.
